Diné Therapist Supporting Trauma, Grief, Identity, and Deeper Healing in Arizona

I’m a Diné therapist, first-generation professional, and the founder of Trailhead Counseling. I support adults who are carrying trauma, grief, disconnection, and the quiet exhaustion of always having to be strong.

Many of my clients are the ones people rely on. They hold it together for family, work, community, and everyone else, while something inside feels tired, disconnected, anxious, or unseen.

Therapy with me is not about fixing you.

It is about slowing down enough to understand what your mind, body, and spirit have been carrying — and helping the parts of you that learned to survive finally feel safe enough to soften.

Why I Do This Work

Before I became a therapist, I knew what it felt like to carry things quietly.

I knew what it was like to be the helper, the responsible one, the one who could sense what others needed, while feeling far away from myself.

Healing did not begin for me through being told what was “wrong” with me. It began through compassion. Through Internal Family Systems. Through reconnecting with my body, the land, ceremony, and the wisdom that had always been there.

That is part of why I do this work the way I do.

I don’t see symptoms as something to erase. I see adaptations. I see protection. I see the ways your system worked hard to help you survive.

Who I Work With

I work with adults navigating:

Trauma and grief
Generational and historical trauma
Identity and cultural disconnection
Anxiety, shame, and emotional overwhelm
Life transitions and relationship wounds
The pressure of being “the strong one”
Feeling disconnected from body, self, culture, or spirit

Many of my clients are Indigenous, BIPOC, first-generation, or people who feel like they are walking in two worlds.

You may be functioning on the outside, but inside you know something needs to change.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

My work is relational, depth-oriented, and grounded in Internal Family Systems, Somatic IFS, EMDR, Sandtray Therapy, and nature-based healing.

Sessions are not one-size-fits-all. Sometimes we talk. Sometimes we notice what is happening in the body. Sometimes we work with protective parts, memories, images, grief, or old beliefs that still live close to the surface.

We move at your pace.

I may gently invite you to pause, notice, breathe, or listen inward — not to force healing, but to help your system feel less alone.

This is a space where all parts of you are welcome.

A Little More About Me

I am of the Deerspring Clan, born for the Bitterwater people. My maternal grandfathers are of the Salt People, and my paternal grandfathers are of the Mexican People Clan.

I was raised on Diné homelands, and my work is shaped by lived experience, professional training, and over 10 years of walking alongside Native children, youth, adults, and families impacted by trauma.

I bring humility, warmth, cultural awareness, and deep respect for the healing path each person carries.

Training & Approach

My clinical work is shaped by advanced training in:

  • Internal Family Systems

  • Somatic Internal Family Systems

  • EMDR

  • Sandtray Therapy

  • Ecotherapy and nature-based therapy

  • Grief and trauma support

  • Culturally responsive trauma work

These approaches help us work beneath the surface with the nervous system, protective parts, old wounds, and the deeper wisdom already within you.

You Don’t Have to Hold This Alone

Healing does not mean becoming someone new.

Sometimes healing is remembering who you were before survival took over.

Sometimes it is learning to trust your body again.
Sometimes it is reconnecting with your voice, your story, your people, your spirit, or the land beneath your feet.

If something in you is saying, “Yes, this feels like what I’ve been looking for,” I invite you to schedule a free consultation.

Let’s see if walking this path together feels aligned.
