How I practice Somatic IFS
Somatic IFS invite you to connect with:
sensations
breath
temperature and movement
pressure, openness, or tension
inner imagery
impulses or “pulls” in the body
But we never force the body into anything.
We follow the pace of your system.
Together, we explore:
where a protector lives in your body
how a hurting pat show up through sensation
what happens when you turn toward a part instead of trying to fix it
how your breath, posture, or grounding shift when Self-energy comes forward
how unburdening changes the body’s experiences so they can be seen, understood, and worked with.
This method creates real, lasting change because it works with the body, not against it.
Is Somatic IFS right for you
This approach may be a good fit if you want:
healing that includes your body, not just your thoughts
a slower, deeper, relational way to work with trauma
to understand your triggers at the body-level
to reconnect with intuition an inner knowing
culturally grounded, non-pathologizing therapy
a sense of safety and connection inside yourself
For many, this is the first time therapy has felt like it matches the way their system naturally works.
Somatic IFS Therapy in Arizona
Healing the body and the inner system together.
Your body carriers the echoes of your parts, and their wisdom.
Somatic IFS blends the wisdom of your body with the clarity and compassion of Internal Family System. With this approach, sensations are not “symptoms” they’re the voices of parts trying to communicate.
A tight chest might be a protector
The pressure in your stomach might be a younger part warning, “something feels scary”
A numb body might be a survival strategy that’s worked for years.
Somatic IFS help you gently listen to these signals so parts can be understood, supported, and unburdened in a safe, paced way.
This approach is especially supportive for clients who feel:
overwhelmed, activated, or “on alert”
disconnected or numb in the body
stuck in patterns they can’t think their way out of
torn between inner voices or emotional pulls
anxious, exhausted, or easily triggered
burden by generational trauma or identity pain
Somatic IFS meets these experiences with compassion, not force.
